TIMELINE: ABOUT 4 – 6 Months

We believe financial planning is an active, ongoing process, not a one-time thing. So we developed a process that can pivot as much as your life does.

Our Process

Financial Planning Part 1

  • Discovery Meeting Part 1 – a 30-minute phone call to determine if we are a good match and if it makes sense to continue to Part 2.

  • Discovery Meeting Part 2 – a 1-hour Zoom to dive deeper into your concerns, goals, and desires. The outcome of this meeting  will be to decide if we will continue onto the Financial Planning Process. 

  • Cash Flow Meeting – a 45-minute Zoom to dive into spending and savings goals.
  • Insurance and Investments Meeting – a 45-minute Zoom to discuss your current insurance and investment strategy along with recommendations and implementation help.
  • Tax & Estate Planning – a 45-minute Zoom to go over your prior tax return and future planning opportunities. We will either review your current estate plan and make any necessary recommendations or help you coordinate with an attorney to get an estate plan drafted.

Financial Planning Part 2

Ongoing planning – once we have developed your game plan, we will move over to our ongoing planning model.

  • Spring Planning Meeting– Financial foundations and investment philosophy.
  • Fall Planning Meeting – Tax projections and Estate (odd years)/Insurance (even years) reviews.
  • Pop-up meetings whenever necessary and unlimited email and phone support.

Our investment advice takes into account your comfort with risk and is the best way to keep your nest egg growing in an uncertain economy.

We believe in an intentional PASSIVE investment strategy using Dimensional Funds. We do not believe in stock picking, timing the market, and getting rich quick. Our investment philosophy is backed by research through long-term investment strategies. We create our portfolios based on our clients goals, values, and timelines and we are constantly monitoring our each client account. We review our investment strategy every Spring and make tweaks when appropriate.

Book a Discovery Meeting

Our Discovery Meeting is broken into two parts.

Part 1 is a 30-minute phone call to get to know one another and to determine whether it makes sense to proceed to Part 2.

Part 2 dives deeper into your concerns, goals, and desires, and we decide if we should move on and start your financial planning process.

Get Organized & Explore Possibilities

We will collect any necessary information while helping you sort through your financial lives and get organized. 

We then work to analyze and evaluate your current financial status together using our financial planning software and create a game plan that aligns with your values.

Implement, Monitor, & Update

We get our clients to take action.

The goal is to commit to implementing the top 1 or 2 recommendations.

We will implement the remaining financial planning recommendations together and meet semi-annually to ensure that we are making progress.

01. Do you have a physical office we have to meet at?

No! We believe in the power and efficiency of virtual work, and our clients value location independence. Our clients are across the country and they are able to hop on a call from anywhere.

02. What is your investment approach?

We use an intentional PASSIVE investment strategy through Dimensional Funds. We do not believe in stock picking, timing the market, and getting rich quick. Our investment philosophy is backed by research through long-term investment strategies. To delegate your investments to us, we charge 0.50% and Dimensional charges 0.16%.

03. Why do you FOCUS workING with soloprenEUrs and people with equity comp?

We want to be the best in our niche and we know we can’t be good at everything. We believe that we can add the most value to our clients who face more tax issues since we love tax planning!

04. How many clients do you serve?

We keep this intimate so we really get to know each and every client. We serve no more than 50 households at one time.

05. How often do we meet?

We meet quite a bit in the first 6 months to a year while we get to know each other and create the foundation of your financial plan. Then, we meet every 6 months in the Spring and Fall. We provide unlimited email support and ad hoc meetings whenever necessary.

06. How do you charge for your financial planning services? Is it fee-based, commission-based, or a combination of both?

We charge financial planning fees on an annual basis based on complexity. Check out my “Pricing” page. We also manage client’s investments and charge 0.50% of your total account value. There is no additional platform charge. This is completely optional, and you can add this service at any time, and it is separate from the financial planning fee.
